Project Description

Google Midpoint is rooted in the idea of Re-wilding—a return to the natural landscape that once defined the southern edge of San Francisco Bay. Rather than applying a conventional workplace brand, Ripbang developed an experiential framework inspired by the ecology of the nearby Guadalupe River estuary, using the site itself as the foundation for the campus identity.

The environmental graphics and wayfinding draw from the region’s wetlands, coastline, and seasonal rhythms, creating a workplace that feels connected to its surroundings. Three distinct building identities—Oceanic, Winter Storm, and Upwelling—interpret different conditions of the California coast through graphics, materials, and architectural expression, while sculptural wayfinding elements and immersive environmental graphics reinforce the story throughout the campus.

The result is a workplace that gives employees a stronger connection to place while creating a memorable identity that could only exist in Northern California. Rather than relying on corporate branding, the experience celebrates the landscape, history, and ecology that make the site unique.
